The Adventure App - Child Safeguarding Policy
1. Our Commitment:
The Adventure App ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who use "The Adventure App" (the "App"). We recognize that the welfare of children is paramount in all aspects of our work. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that children are protected from harm.
2. Principles:
The welfare of the child is our primary concern.
All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation, or identity, have the right to equal protection from1 harm.
We believe that working in partnership with parents and guardians is essential in promoting the welfare of children.
We recognize that parents have the primary responsibility for the safety of their children.
3. Responsibilities:
The Adventure App is responsible for providing a safe online environment within the App.
Parents and guardians are solely responsible for the safety of their children during any outdoor activities undertaken as a result of using the App.
Parents are responsible for the risk assessments of any adventures they choose to undertake.
4. Online Safety:
Parental Consent: Children aged 16 and under may only use the App with the explicit consent of their parent or legal guardian.
No Direct Communication: The App does not allow direct communication between child users.
Friend Requests: All friend requests from children must be approved by their parent or guardian.
Data Protection: We adhere to the principles of GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 in relation to children's data, as detailed in our Privacy Policy.
User-Generated Content (Reviews): We moderate user reviews to ensure that they are appropriate and do not contain harmful content.
Leaderboards: Children are only visible on the leaderboard by their chosen username.
Advertising: No advertising content will be displayed to child users.
5. Outdoor Activities Safety:
Parental Supervision: Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children during all outdoor activities related to the App.
Risk Assessment: Parents and guardians are responsible for assessing the risks involved in any outdoor activity and taking appropriate precautions.
Preparation: Parents and guardians should ensure that they and their children are adequately prepared for outdoor activities.
Emergency Procedures: Parents and guardians should be aware of emergency procedures and have access to emergency contacts.
Adventure Cards: Although the Adventure cards are provided by the company, the real world safety of the adventures are the responsibility of the parents.
6. Reporting Concerns:
If any parent or guardian has concerns about the safety or welfare of a child using the App, they should contact us immediately at Jon@theadventureapp.com.
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, please contact the emergency services.
All reports will be treated seriously and investigated appropriately.
7. Data Protection:
We adhere to the principles of GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 in relation to children's data. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.
8. Policy Review:
This policy will be reviewed and updated annually or as required by changes in legislation or best practice.
